Version 1.0 Patch Notes
Been a long time since I updated this game! Most noticeably new is encounters and enemies, as well as a boss at the end. I also revamped the music, added some modifiers if you want to change things up (if you can think of any good ones please let me know). Although this is still a bit away from what I imagined the finished game to look like, I don’t think I’ll be updating it anytime soon, I think I’ll leave it at this for this version. To be completely honest, I don’t think my Unity skills or available time are close enough to what they need to be to make what I how I envision the best version of Underseas that could be made. Think of what’s here now as the Celeste Classic to a future full-length version if I ever make games professionally in any capacity. Until then, I’ll be working on other projects.
Anyway, here’s the full list of what’s new:
- Added 2 new enemies: The Urchin and the Ouroboros
- Added a boss at the end.
- Added a lot of new encounters, we’re up to 22 now I think. Last time it was like 10 maybe. Now there should be a lot more variety when you play the game again.
- Added modifiers that you can turn on to change things up. To be honest, I’m not incredibly happy with the way these came out. I was planning on adding some sort of upgrades you can get partway through the game, in typical Roguelike fashion, but I couldn’t think of a way to do it that felt like it fit the game and stayed true to the challenge I wanted to present. So I ended up adding the modifiers as a compromise, and I think they’re a little lame, I don’t know.
- Revamped the music, and the boss has its own music as well.
- Added some new plants and new plant arrangements.
- The player starts with 4 health now instead of 3, to make up for a run lasting longer now.
- Removed the Big Jellyfish and the Pogfish. The former was just lame (gameplay wise, at least) and the latter, I realized that finding a good way to balance it was on the lowest of my concerns, and you gotta stop somewhere. Plus, I set myself a deadline to get this out by Halloween.
- Anything else I changed is either behind the scenes and unnoticeable to players, or I forgot it.
Have fun and enjoy this new update!
